Srinagar: Body of a Territorial Army man, who went missing on Tuesday, was found on Wednesday in Kazwan forest area of Kokernag in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

The Army man was identified as rifleman Hilal Ahmad Bhat, who was allegedly kidnapped by militants on Tuesday afternoon. Officials said Bhat was accompanied by another Army man, Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, who managed to escape despite bullet wounds and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Soon after the incident, Army and police launched a joint search and rescue operation which continued overnight. "Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the braveheart, Rfn Hilal Ahmad Bhat, in line of duty for the nation. His courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved family," Srinagar based Chinar Corps informed.


Bhat, a native of Nowgam village of Anantnag, is survived by his wife and two children.
