SRINAGAR: A militant hideout was today unearthed by security forces and a cache of arms and ammunition recovered from a forest in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said here.

Acting on a tip-off, a search operation was carried out by a joint team of police and army in Kaawan, Wagila forest area of Kreeri in Baramulla, an official said.

He said two pistols, three pistol magazines, 11 pistol rounds, four AK 47 magazines, 22 AK 47 rounds, four UBGL rounds, five hand grenades, three RPGs, one mortar bomb and three wireless set antennas were recovered.

The official said police have registered a case and the search operation is still on.
