Two soldiers killed in militant attack on army quick reaction team in Jammu and Kashmir
They said the Quick Reaction Team came under indiscriminate firing by two-three ultras, who were travelling in a van, this afternoon at a crowded area in Khushipora of Parimpora.
Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said that attackers fired from a car on the Srinagar-Baramullah highway.“Two attackers were fired indiscriminately at Armymen deployed in the area. Probably one of two foreign militants were involved in the attack. The car is being traced and we will ascertain other details soon,” Kumar told journalists.
The two soldiers were rushed to a hospital where they died. They have been identified as Sepoy Ratan of 163 battalion of Territorial Army and Sepoy Deshmukh of 101 battalion of Territorial Army. The militants fired indiscriminately at the quick reaction team deployed in Aban Shah Chowk in HMT area, an Army statement said. It said that troops were restrained in their retaliatory fire as the place was crowded. Thearea was cordoned and extensive search operation was conducted.

The DDC elections and panchayat and Urban Local Bodies by-elections are scheduled to be conducted in eight phases from November 28 till December 22. This would be the first poll exercise in J&K since August 5 2019, when special status of J&K was abrogated and the erstwhile state was divided into Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
