Manipur: 2 CRPF personnel killed in militant attack

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and two others were injured when a camp of the security forces in the Naransena area of Manipur's Bishnupur district was attacked on Saturday.

In a post on X, chief minister N Biren Singh condemn the assault and said, "Such actions demonstrate cowardice against dedicated security personnel who work tirelessly day and night to uphold peace and stability in the state. Their sacrifice will not go in vain."

Manipur's security adviser, Kuldiep Singh told reporters, "The groups have been attacking national infrastructure like road, tower lines, but now they are attacking central forces. How can that go, it cannot be tolerated. We will find out how it happened."


According to Singh, the militants fired at the camp and there was a blast too. "It is ghastly retaliation... Till now forces were not targeted; forces have come from far flung areas to maintain peace. We will find out who has done it. We will take all action against them," he said.

Singh said there was a meeting held of the different forces operating in the region. "We made plans on a day to day basis, we will start combing operations and we will find out who has done it and will not spare them. They will have to pay for it as per the law of the land," he said.

Brushing aside claims of intelligence failure, Singh said it was the first time that forces have been attacked. "They themselves call the central paramilitary forces as neutral forces. We will put all agencies to find out as to who has done this".
