The centre will be set up with an estimated cost of Rs Rs 2,100 crore in an area spreading across 1,800 acres between Batigarh and Fatehgarh.

DAMOH (MADHYA PRADESH):Indo Tibetan Border Police's ( ITBP) first modern weapon training centre in Madhya Pradesh will be established in Batiagarh area here, Damoh MP Prahlad Patel said.

"ITBP's Weapon and Support Weapon Training Centre will be the first of its kind in the state and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has issued orders to set up in Damoh," Patel told reporters yesterday in the presence of MP finance minister Jayant Mallaiya.

The leaders said that with the approval of this modern weapon training centre, the entire region will develop at a faster pace.

The centre will be set up with an estimated cost of Rs Rs 2,100 crore in an area spreading across 1,800 acres between Batigarh and Fatehgarh, he said.

Patel said there was also a proposal to set up the centre in Mirzapur in UP but the Home Minister decided in favour of Batiagarh in Damoh.

The newly recruited constables of ITBP will be given training at the centre for operating all kinds of small and big weapons including cannons capable of firing up to 5-km range and sten guns.

Currently, a similar training centre is operational in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
