Lt Gen Singh paid obeisance at the Chinar War Memorial in Srinagar, honouring the supreme sacrifice of soldiers and affirmed his resolve to work in close synergy with the civil administration and the 'awaam of Kashmir' to strengthen peace, stability and prosperity in the region. "I urge all sections of society to join hands with security forces in overcoming the challenges," Lt Gen Singh was quoted as saying.
The Army said he possesses extensive experience in counter-infiltration and counter-terrorism operations in J&K and the Northeast. A Srinagar-based defence spokesperson said he has previously commanded the Counter Insurgency Force (Victor) in South Kashmir.
Earlier, Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava relinquished the command and handed over reins of Chinar Corps after 19 months. "His eventful and challenging tenure was characterised by meticulous execution of Op Sindoor and Op Mahadev, which brought the perpetrators of the dastardly 'Pahalgam attack' to justice, incident-free conduct of the Amarnath Yatra 2025 and multiple initiatives in nation building."
