On July 10, 2024, Lt Gen Shankar Narayan, NM, VSM, officially assumed the role of Commandant at Army Hospital (Research & Referral). Graduating from the 1982 ('U') batch of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Lt Gen Narayan specializes in Pediatrics and holds post-doctoral sub-specialization in Neonatology from AIIMS, New Delhi. His expertise also includes training in Pediatric Liver Transplantation from King's College Hospital, London.

Lt Gen Narayan brings a wealth of experience in patient care, clinical services, and medical administration to his new position.
