India using ICJ as a political theatre, will not respond in kind: Pakistan at International Court of Justice

While stating that the court has no jurisdiction in the case, Pakistan also accused India of not earlier cooperating when it was informed about Jadhav's arrest.

After India shredded all defences of Pakistan on sentencing of Kulbhushan Jadhav earlier today, it is now the turn of Pakistan to defend itself at the International Court of Justice.
Pakistan countered India's argument against the death sentence to Kulbhushan Jadhav, saying Delhi was using the International Court of Justice as a "scene of political theatre" and that it won't "respond in kind".

In his reply to India's counsel Harish Salve's argument that Islamabad's case against Jadhav was farcical, Pakistan's lawyer Khawar Qureshi said the Vienna Convention provisions on consular access, as demanded by India, were not intended for a "spy" involved in terror activities.

Here's what Pakistan's Foreign Office official Mohammed Faisal said before the ICJ
  • We are for peaceful resolution for all issues.
  • Will use all legitimate means to protect our territory.
  • India has seen fit to use ICJ as political theater.
  • It is wrong for India to use the judicial organ of UN.
  • India has been provided with the copy of the passport of Jadhav when he was apprehended.
  • The video of the Jadhav's confession available in public.
  • India sought to persuade the court that Pakistan wants to execute Jadhav in days. But this is wrong. We gave a period of 150 days to Jadhav.
  • The Islamic Republic of Pakistan wishes to live in peace with its neighbors.
  • India is unwilling to explain Jadhav's passport which bears a Muslim name: Pakistan at ICJ
Here's what Pakistan's Counsel said in the court:
  • The Pakistan authority had made it clear that Jadhav was not eligible for Consular access.
  • As per the bilateral agreement between India and Pakistan, Consular access is decided on merit.
  • India has not reverted on the details of allegation sought by Pakistan which include 13 names which Jadhav revealed.
  • The confession video was given to India but Pakistan got no response from India.
  • I would invite the court to dismiss the application, there is no urgency.
  • Indian media reported the ICJ's letter as a 'stay' which it is not. This shows maneuvering.
  • Jadhav was apprehended from Balochistan. He crossed from Iran.
  • It is not acceptable to invoke ICJ's jurisdiction in this case.
  • India conveniently glossed above the facility of clemency available in Pakistan.
  • ICJ does not exist for time-wasting political grand standing.
  • India's 'kangaroo court' charge is bizarre.
  • Seeking annulment of death sentence from the international court is beyond aspirational.
  • India's real and only goal in this case is to get a stay order.
  • Article 36 of Vienna convention does not apply to a spy of a nation.
  • India maintained that Jadhav is its national but has not done anything to prove that.
  • Serious allegations were made against Pakistan, a member of United Nation, but India did not offer any evidence.
  • India and Pakistan shares a long border and kidnapping Jadhav from Iran for just a confession illogical.
  • No issues with expedite hearing which was though not necessary.
