Indian and Kazakh armies on November 2 began a 14-day joint exercise in Himachal Pradesh to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange skills and experience.

Ways to boost defence cooperation between India and Kazakhstan were discussed at a meeting today between Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Deputy Defence Minister of the Central Asian country.

Mukhtarov also met Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and discussed about enhancing cooperation between ground forces of the two countries, officials said.

Enhancing bilateral defence cooperation was the focus of the two meetings, they said.

It is the second joint military exercise between the two countries. The first edition of "Prabal Dostyk" was held in Kazakhstan in 2016.
