The committee, headed by L Narasimha Reddy, retired chief justice of Patna High Court, will examine all recommendations made by the central government on the removal of anomalies and grievances voiced by ex-servicemen.
Many veterans expressed apprehension at the notification of the committee since it may keep them from moving the courts against some of the provisions of the scheme.

The terms of reference for the committee include measures for removal of anomalies, if any, that may arise out of implementation of the scheme, the implication on service matters and any other matter referred by the central government on the scheme or related issues.
“The committee shall make its recommendation within six months of the date of its constitution. It may, if necessary, give interim reports to the government on any of the matters related to its terms of reference,” said an official statement.
After the implementation of the scheme, veterans had expressed dissatisfaction over the decision not to extend benefits to those opting for premature, voluntary retirement.
The committee, headquartered in Delhi, will be provided administrative support by the defence ministry’s department of ex-servicemen welfare.
