Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh operative from Assam involved in Bodh Gaya blast arrested in Kolkata

In past terror outfit JMB had set up Assam module. Several of its operative was arrested.

Ariful Islam, an operative of Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) who hails from Barpeta in Assam was arrested in Babughat area, kolkata. He was one of the accomplices in the Bodh Gaya blast, which took place in 2018.

A senior police official stated, Ariful studied in Howli in Assam. He worked as a helper with truck drivers. He came in touch with Jahidul Islam and Abdul Majid and was given dawat (invitation) by them to join JMB.

“He was in contact with Kausar, Kalu, Adil, Hassan, Paigambar, kader gazi and others of JMB. In 2018 January, he along with Adil, Hassan, Chota kareem and Kausar had been to Bodh Gaya, conducted recce and planted explosives and was directly involved in the Bodh Gaya blast,” Police officer said


The officer added, “After Bodh Gaya Blast, while he absconded to Bangalore he got involved with dacoits. He came to Kolkata for some specific work regarding recce and preparations for a plot to secure escape of Kauser from custody on way to court from jail. Some papers have been seized from him in this regard.”

In past terror outfit JMB had set up Assam module. Several of its operative was arrested. Lower Assam district of Chirang was being used as training centre by this Jehadi terror outfit.
