ISIS module: Police claims to have averted terror attack in Assam and New Delhi
GUWAHATI: Security forces have averted a possible terror attack in Assam and New Delhi by busting an ISIS terror module.

The police has arrested three people from Assam’s Goalpara district. These three were inspired by Bangladesh module of ISIS.

A team of Special cell of Delhi police and Assam Police have arrested three people. The police say that the accused were about to plant an IED during the on-going Raas festival in Dudhnoi area.


The arrested have been identified as Luit Zameel Zaman, Mukadir Islam, and Ranjeet Islam. While Jamal worked in an Aadhar enrollment centre, Mukadir Islam worked as a driver, and Ranjeet worked as a manger in a local fish firm.

Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Delhi Police said, “They had planned a blast in Delhi. They also had a plan of carrying out blast at the Dudhnoi Rasleela mela in Assam as a rehearsal. This fair has substantial number of footfalls.”

The police managed to nab them just when these people were about to enter the fair. Monday was the last day of fair.

Police recovered an IED besides one kilogram of explosives, material like nails, ball bearings used in making bombs, baton swords, and four mobile phones.

Amitabh Basumatary, Additional Superintendent of Police, Goalpara said, “Following some information, a team of Delhi police arrived in Guwahati on Saturday and then they were sent from Assam police headquarters to Goalpara. Along with local police they carried out an investigation and three extremists were apprehended. A case has been registered against them and they were forwarded to the court on Monday. They are in 10 day police remand."

The recovered IED is similar to the one that was used in Ujjain train blast on March 7, 2017.
