Iran ambassador thanks India, signals peace talks but warns Iran ‘ready for war’

Mohammad Fathali, Ambassador of Iran thanked Indian citizens and the government for their support, saying, “I want to thank all the Indian people they are truly reliable and compassionate partners in times of hardship.” He also acknowledged New Delhi’s role in facilitating arrangements during a difficult period.

On recent negotiations in Islamabad, Fathali said key issues included nuclear concerns, war reparations and sanctions relief, adding, “We are ready for peace. We are ready for negotiation but Iran is also ready for war.” He flagged what he termed “unlawful demands” in the talks.


Addressing regional tensions and the possibility of a naval blockade, he criticised the United States for past breaches, stating Iran has not forgotten its experiences, and alleged that the US and Israel initiated attacks despite ongoing negotiations.

On maritime movement, Fathali underscored strong bilateral ties, noting, “We have a good relation with the Indian government, we want good preparation for Indian ships,” while assuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

He also said that Iran’s leadership has stated it is prepared for “any option,” warning that ongoing conflicts are creating wider instability and could push up global petroleum prices in the near future. He alleged that the “Zionist regime” is attempting to draw the United States further into the confrontation.

He further noted that Iran plans to soon announce a mechanism to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Fatahli also said that the United States has underestimated Iran’s capabilities, adding that Iran has been “tested” and that Washington will soon witness Tehran’s response in the near future.
