Iran shares video claiming American warship was chased out of Persian Gulf by naval boats

The Iranian embassy uploaded a video claiming it showed Iranian speed boats chasing an American warship out of the Persian Gulf amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington in the region.

The caption accompanying the video stated, "Interesting footage of an Iranian Navy officer taunting Americans while chasing their warship out of the Persian Gulf."

In the video, the officer referred to Americans as "liars" and "old foxes", saying, "This is Iran, the land of lions and Islam, no place for you hyenas to flex your muscles. Run for your lives!"

IRGC issues fresh warning to US

On Saturday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a strong warning to US assets in the Persian Gulf, stating that any further action against Iranian oil tankers or commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger a "heavy assault" on American military centres and ships in the region.

The warning was issued by the IRGC Navy Command in a post on X, which stated, "Warning! Any aggression against Iran's oil tankers and commercial vessels will result in a heavy assault against one of the American centres in the region and the enemy's ships."

IRGC says missiles and drones locked on US targets

In a separate post, the IRGC Aerospace Force claimed its missiles and drones had already been "locked onto American targets in the region" and "enemy aggressor ships", adding that they were awaiting orders to fire.

"IRGC Aerospace Force missiles and drones have locked onto American targets in the region and the enemy aggressor's ships. We are awaiting the order to fire," the statement said.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions following recent exchanges involving US naval assets and Iranian forces near the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy transit route.

Trump confirms exchange of fire in Strait of Hormuz

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump confirmed an exchange of fire between American and Iranian naval forces in the Strait of Hormuz during a ceasefire period between the two sides.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said three US Navy destroyers had "transited very successfully" through the strategic waterway despite coming under fire from Iranian forces.

He further claimed that Iranian naval boats were "completely destroyed" and that missiles and drones targeting the vessels had been intercepted.

CENTCOM says US disabled Iranian tankers

Following the incident, the United States Central Command on Friday said US naval forces had disabled two more Iranian-flagged oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman as part of ongoing blockade measures against Iran, while redirecting 57 commercial vessels in the region.

In a statement, CENTCOM said US forces disabled the unladen Iranian tankers M/T Sea Star III and M/T Sevda before they could enter an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman.

According to the statement, a US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet operating from USS George HW Bush (CVN 77) fired precision munitions into the smokestacks of both vessels, preventing them from reaching Iranian territory.

Earlier, on May 6, US forces had disabled another Iranian-flagged tanker, M/T Hasna, as it attempted to sail to an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman.

CENTCOM said that since April 13, US forces have disabled four vessels in the region and redirected 58 commercial vessels as part of the blockade of Iranian ports.
