IPS officer Inam Ul-Haq-Mengnoo transferred with reports suggesting his brother had link with militants
The Assam government, today, in a series of transfer and posting in the police department has posted Inam UI-Haq as commandant, battalion Mandakata, North Guwahati.

Mengnoo was posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Hamren police district.

Shams-Ul-Haq Mengnoo brother of IPS officer was pursuing course on Unani medicine from Institute of Asian Medical Sciences, Srinagar. Shams-Ul-Haq had gone missing from Shopian since May. Family had filed missing complaint with the police.
A senior official in state police maintained that Inam UI-Haq’s transfer has nothing to do with his brother. The transfer and posting of police official is of routine nature.
Additional director general of police (special branch) Pallab Bhattacharya told ET, ”Assam police has not received any query regarding the brother of 2012 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IPS officer Inam Ul-Haq-Mengnoo."
He said, "Mengoo's brother has been missing for some time now and Jammu and Kashmir police is looking for him. Inam Ul is very upright officer and being a doctor every week he renders free service to locals in Hamren."
