Border Security Force officials said an intruder was killed near the border outpost in the Regal area in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday night.

The intruder was allegedly on a reconnaissance mission in the area to check the alertness of the troops deployed in the area, officials said. The "infiltration attempt" was foiled and the intruder's body was retrieved on Thursday, they said, adding that the intruder was probably followed by some people who were also attempting to sneak in through the border.

"Troops noticed movement from across the border around 8:15 pm on Wednesday. It was closely monitored. The intruder first approached the border and then crossed the International Border. Despite being challenged by the troops, he continued to advance aggressively," DK Boora, inspector general of the BSF told media persons during his visit to the forward post.
