Intercepted call: Forensic confirms Syed Salahuddin’s voice
NEW DELHI: An interception at a Kashmir prison has matched with the voice of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) chief and chairman of United Jehad Council, Syed Salahuddin, according to forensic reports of a Gujarat laboratory. Salahuddin was talking to a jailed militant, Manzoor Ahmed Wani, lodged at Kashmir prison, when the calls were intercepted, said officials.

The agencies had seized the voice sample and sent it for examination with the original voice of Salahuddin obtained from a news agency where the HM chief has given an interview.

The probe was aimed to unearth the terror funding case against Salahuddin and HM cadres for allegedly funding the militants and their families in the valley through a trust in the name of J&K Affectees Relief Trust (JKART).

The forensic reports accessed by ET say, “The voice exhibits of the speaker in two samples are identical in respect of their acoustic cues and other linguistic and phonetic features.

Hence, it is opined that the voice exhibits of speakers are voice of the same person ( i.e. Syed Salahuddin) with high probability.”

This, according to counter terror experts will also help India’s case against Salahuddin, with the United Nations, to designate him as terrorist in the UN as well as in the US and other major countries.

The forensic report also gave an opinion on the voice samples of Wani and opined that “voice exhibits of speakers marked in two different samples are voice of the same person with probable identity.”
