NEW DELHI: Nuclear partnership, including India’s membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), civil nuclear cooperation and nonproliferation issues, dominated the meeting between Narendra Modi and Barack Obama, as the PM thanked the US President for his “help and support” for India’s entry into NSG and MTCR.

Speaking to media after almost twohour dialogue at the White House, the seventh meeting between the two leaders since 2014, both listed areas of cooperation from regional security, terrorism, cyber security, climate change and clean energy to economic partnership. Modi said the two countries and democracies were working shoulder-to-shoulder for the last two years on global warming, nuclear security and counter-terror initiatives.

Obama said civil nuclear cooperation figured prominently during his discussions with Modi. Obama noted that India’s membership to NSG will give it access to latest technology. Climate change battle and financing for clean energy, too, figured prominently during the talks.
