COAS General Dwivedi addresses French Joint Staff College, gives overview of India's strategic landscape
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi addressed officers from 68 countries at Ecole De Guerre in Paris, discussing India's strategic outlook and evolving geopolitical dynamics. His keynote highlighted modern security challenges and the importance of global military cooperation for collective stability. The session, attended by 98 international officers, underlined India's commitment to regional and global security.

In a post on X, Additional Directorate General of Public Information wrote, "General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS delivered a keynote address on India's Strategic Overview and Regional Geo-Political Situation at Ecole De Guerre, to the prestigious French Joint Staff College course."

"He provided a comprehensive overview of India's strategic landscape and regional geopolitical dynamics to the audience which included 98 international officers from 68 countries. The session emphasised the evolving security environment, the vital role of modern armies in addressing emerging challenges and the imperative for enhanced global cooperation to ensure collective security," it added.


Honouring India's War Heroes

Earlier, General Dwivedi visited the Indian War Memorial in Neuve-Chapelle, paying tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in World War I. He laid a wreath in remembrance of their sacrifice. The memorial symbolises India's enduring contribution to global peace and the bravery of its soldiers.


Live Fire Demonstration and Defence Innovations

On Thursday, General Dwivedi witnessed a live firing drill by France's Scorpion Division at Carpiagne near Marseille. The demonstration showcased newly inducted military vehicles, including the Jaguar, Griffon, and Serval, displaying France’s advanced combat capabilities.

Later, he visited the Airbus facility in Marseille, where he was briefed on aerospace innovations and defence systems. Discussions focused on leveraging advanced aviation technology to enhance India's defence preparedness, particularly in rotary-wing aviation.

This visit underscores the Indian Army's commitment to leveraging global aerospace innovations to enhance operational capabilities and strengthen defence preparedness, especially in the rotary wing aviation," Additional Directorate General of Public Information posted on X.


Future Defence Cooperation

During his visit, General Dwivedi met with the French Army’s 3rd Division at Fort Ganteaume. The discussions revolved around joint military training, including Exercise SHAKTI, scheduled in France later this year. The Indian Army remains committed to expanding defence collaboration with France.

Strengthening Military Partnerships

General Dwivedi's four-day visit aimed at reinforcing military ties between India and France. The Ministry of Defence emphasised that the visit explored new avenues of cooperation, fostering stronger strategic partnerships between the two nations' armed forces.
