Here are all the details:
- INS Vikrant will be country's first indigenously-built aircraft carrier.
- It has 2200 compartments including separate accommodation for women officers and female Agniveer sailors.
- The equipment has been made in 18 states and union territories including places like Ambala, Daman, Kolkata, Jalandhar, Kota, Pune and New Delhi.
- The entire cabling of INS Vikrant around 2,500 kms in length has been made in India.
- Warship-grade steel has also been made in India with the help of Indian Navy, DRDO & SAIL. It can be later exported to other countries.
- It has been designed for operating the MiG-29K but the Indian Navy would be ultimately deploying the indigenous TEDBF fighter aircraft for which it has been working with DRDO.
- The commissioning ceremony will take place on September 2
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the commissioning of the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Vikrant on September 2 in Kochi
- Commissioning of aircraft carrier INS Vikrant will contribute to ensuring peace & stability in Indo-Pacific
- Deliberations are on for second indigenous aircraft carrier.
