“The Indian Navy successfully concluded biannual joint exercise Jal Prahar, a joint amphibious exercise conducted in close coordination with the Indian Army,” an official press release from the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) said late Thursday.
The exercise unfolded in two distinct phases—the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase—spanning from September 16 to 23.
During the five-day Harbour Phase (September 16–20), Army personnel were inducted onboard INS Gharial, where they underwent extensive training, safety briefings, and orientation on life at sea. The phase also included sports and interaction sessions to build camaraderie among the forces, ENC noted.
The Sea Phase, held from September 21 to 23, tested operational execution at sea. Troops carried out amphibious landings, including hard beaching at Kakinada, and validated standard operating procedures and joint training protocols. The phase was aimed at fine-tuning coordination between the Navy and Army in complex coastal operations.
The exercise demonstrates India’s continued focus on enhancing joint operational readiness and ensuring seamless collaboration between its armed services in the maritime domain.
