NEW DELHI: State-controlled Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) Tuesday laid the foundation stone of a data centre to help Indian Coast Guard digitally transform its operations.

In a bhoomi-poojan (land ceremony) at Delhi's Vasant Kunj, country's master system integrator (MSI) and the Indian Coast Guard said that the initiative would be completed within a two-year period.

State-owned company is setting up the ambitious data centre at a cost of Rs 588-crore together with Yotta Infrastructure and Attero, a software solutions company. It includes a 5-year operational expenditure (opex) and hardware warranty for two years.

"The project involves digital transformation of Indian Coast Guard by putting ERP solution and connecting their 109 offices and 88 ships," Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, TCIL told ET.

The initiative would help the Indian Coast Guard to digitalise their internal processes using the ERP system, which could also improve the efficiency and effectiveness in decision-making.

The multiple locations would be connected with a fibre network, and partnership would facilitate automation of internal processes including finance, HR and operational modules.
