The Indian Army launched retaliatory fire assaults on Pakistan army posts, killing five and injuring six of their soliders. Earlier today, the Pakistan Army had violated the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri and Poonch districts.

The Indian Army opened fire on Pakistani posts on the other side of the LoC in Bhimber and Battal sectors after the ceasefire violation earlier in the day.

Pakistan had resorted to mortar shelling and firing on posts along the LoC in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district and Krishnagati sector of Poonch early on Thursday morning. The assault had claimed the life of a GREF labourer, while two BSF jawans were wounded.

The Indian Army launched retaliatory fire and killed five Pakistani soldiers and injured six others.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh about the firing at the LoC. Pakistan had issued a statement that India had resorted to "unprovoked" firing earlier in the day, which had allegedly injured three people.

However, later on Thursday, the Indian Army clarified that the news of the killing and injuring of Pakistani soldiers is unverified.
