In a continued effort to strengthen India's military presence in Africa, particularly in light of China's strategic influence, Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande is set to embark on a crucial four-day visit to Tanzania, reported Times of India.

General Pande's visit, scheduled from 2 to 5 October, aims to foster bilateral defence ties and engagements with high-ranking officials, including the Tanzanian Defence Minister and Chief of Defence Forces. The discussions are expected to revolve around strengthening military collaboration.

General Pande's itinerary includes addressing the National Defence College in Dar es Salaam, an opportunity to share insights and knowledge on defence strategies and tactics. He will also interact with the commandant and faculty of the Command and Staff College at Duluti, fostering educational and operational cooperation.

Simultaneously, the second edition of the India-Tanzania mini defence expo is set to take place in Dar es Salaam, coinciding with General Pande's visit. This event will showcase India's advanced defence production capabilities, offering a platform for exploring potential collaborations within the defence sector.

India's proactive stance in Africa is evident through recent high-profile visits. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Nigeria and General Pande's trip to Egypt underscore India's commitment to strengthening partnerships in the region.

Notably, India is actively exploring opportunities to export cutting-edge defence technologies, including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and the Akash air defence missiles, to various African nations. This proactive approach reaffirms India's intention to play a crucial role in balancing the strategic dynamics in the African continent.
