New DELHI: India and USA have renewed their agreement to cooperate in the field of cyber security. On Wednesday, a MoU was signed between the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT- In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Department of Homeland Security, Government of the United States of America.

Cyber security has become a hot issue in the country especially in the light of recent financial fraud hitting the Indian banking system. The increased focus on digital transactions has also led to a greater need for warding against cyber attacks.

The MoU signed by Aruna Sundararajan, secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Richard Verma, US Ambassador to India is a follow up of a similar MoU which was signed in 2011 between the two countries.

Since, 2011 regular interactions between CERT-In and US CERT are taking place to share the information and discuss cyber security related issues, the government said in a statement.
