IED blast in central Manipur’s Thoubal district kills one person, injures four

In an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in central Manipur’s Thoubal district on Monday killed one person and four others were injured.

A senior police officer who does not want to be named told ET, “The IED was detonated through a remote control at Khongjom. Pankaj Mahato succumbed to his injuries in hospital The workers were sleeping at a Community Hall when the blast took place.”

The officer added these people were working to construct a water tank. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, “Targeting innocent workers who are working for their livelihood and developmental projects in Manipur are an act of cowardice”.
