JAMNAGAR: The MiG-29 and Jaguar aircraft of the Indian Air Force are mere flying machines like so many of them world over. However, they have the power of presence to send shivers down the spines of enemies.

At the static display of machines and aircraft on Friday at the Air Force Station Jamnagar to commemorate 50 years of 1965 Indo-Pak War, MiG-29 and Jaguar aircraft instilled awe and fear at the same time in those who saw them at the runway.

This infused confidence in the people that the Indian Air Force, Jamnagar, was fully prepared to meet any threat in defending India's international border and vital organizations, including Mundra and Kandla ports and oil refineries in the region. The Royal Indian Air Force was formed on October 8, 1932, to safeguard and defend Indian air space at the time of war and peace.

The air veterans, who had taken part in the 1965 IndoPak War, had been invited to the event. They later shared their experiences with the Indian Air Force station officials.

The IAF personnel had been awarded five Mahavir Chakras and 43 Vir Chakras for their role in the war, which remains a corner stone in the annals of Indian military history.
