The Army foiled an infiltration bid on Wednesday in Uri sector along the Line of Control in Baramulla district in which an Army man, havaldar Ankit Kumar, was killed. The incident took place in Churanda area of Uri in an operation which continued for several hours.

"Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of braveheart havildar Ankit Kumar, who laid down his life while undertaking operational duty along the Line of Control in Uri, Baramulla," read the official communication of Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army. They expressed condolence with the family stating, "Chinar Warriors salute his immense valour and sacrifice, express deepest condolence and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family."
