The family members of captured CRPF commando Rakeshwar Singh Manhas on Wednesday held a protest march in Jammu and blocked the highway demanding his release. They lashed out at the J&K administration and the Centre for not giving them any information since Saturday on Manhas.

“A jawan has been missing since April 3, but the government has not taken any action. We want the government to search for a mediator so that he can be released,” the commando’s wife Meenu Manhas told reporters. Manhas is a resident of Netra Kothi village on the outskirts of Jammu.

His family threatened to block the Akhnoor road in Jammu, if the government did not respond positively. “This government only woke up when we came out on the streets,” alleged Davinder, the commando’s brother.

Later, LG Manoj Sinha said that the government would take all steps for the safe return of the CRPF constable.
