RAIPUR: Four pipe bombs, planted by Maoists to target security forces, were today recovered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district, police said.

A joint Road Opening Party (ROP) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and district force detected the explosives in the forests along a road while conducting its operation in Basaguda police station limits, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI.

The ROP was cordoning off a patch the road between Basaguda and Tarrem villages, located around 450 kms away from here, when it spotted the bombs placed under cover of greenery to harm security personnel, he said.

According to the officer, these explosives were destroyed by the bomb disposal squad.
