Two Singapore-registered ships were struck in the Strait of Hormuz, with one sinking. All crew members were safe.

Two container ships registered in Singapore were struck by unidentified projectiles while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Consequently, one vessel sunk and other was damaged as reported by Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA).

The first vessel, GFS PRIDE, was hit on October 13 and caught fire before sinking. All 21 crew members were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

A day later, on October 14, another vessel, GFS GISELLE, was struck, causing damage to its hull. Despite the damage, the ship managed to reach a safe anchorage on its own. All 22 crew members on board were safe.

The MPA confirmed that neither ship had any Singaporean crew members. It said it remained in touch with the ships’ management company and was closely following the situation.
