Every inch of Pakistan within BrahMos range, says Rajnath Singh

Lucknow: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that "every inch of Pakistan's territory is now within the reach" of India's indigenously developed BrahMos missile, adding that Operation Sindoor has shown Pakistan the consequences of continuing to support terrorism.

Flagging off the first batch of BrahMos missiles from a new production facility in Lucknow, Singh said the project had rolled out missiles within five months of its inauguration in May, significantly boosting domestic production capacity.

The missile, deployed from Su-30MKI fighter jets during Operation Sindoor to hit Pakistani military targets, has become "the greatest practical proof of national security," Singh said. "Operation Sindoor is proof that victory has become a habit for us. It was just a trailer," he added.


Originally developed with a range of 300 km, the Indo-Russian BrahMos can now strike targets over 500 km away, with the air-launched variant capable of even greater reach. Singh called the system "the backbone of our armed forces" and noted that India has signed export contracts worth ₹4,000 crore with two countries in the past month.
