India
1) Army today launched a counter-offensive against Pakistan along the LoC after three Indian soldiers were killed, with body of one of them mutilated in a cross-LoC attack.
2) India has effective deterrence against China and Pakistan. But while China's nuclear weapons are a major strategic concern for India, Pakistan's nuclear programme "remains a daily source of tactical worry", says a former NSA.
3) In a significant milestone for the country's military aviation sector, the upgraded Jaguar DARIN III twin-seat aircraft has received Initial Operation Clearance (IOC).
4) The government informed the Lok Sabha that some key separatist leaders were reported to be in touch with terrorist leaders based across the border and were allegedly receiving directions from the Pakistani establishment to foment trouble in the valley.
5) Mutilation of Indian soldiers at LoC could hit chances of bilateral talks between India and Pakistan.
