According to a post on X by the Indian Army's Chinar Corps, the incident took place on the evening of November 1, 2024. Suspicious movement was detected in the Panar area of Bandipora. When challenged, terrorists fired at security personnel and then fled into the nearby jungle.
The Army confirmed in their post, "On being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle." A search operation is currently ongoing in the area.
This incident follows a similar operation on October 29 in Akhnoor, where security forces neutralized three terrorists after an attack on an Army convoy. Additionally, on October 20, terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal district, resulting in the deaths of a doctor and six construction workers.
Further details about the current operation are awaited, and security forces have also been conducting cordon and search operations in other areas, including Khanyar in Srinagar.
