Dismissed CRPF trooper Munir Ahmad, claiming prior permission for his marriage to Pakistani cousin Minal Khan, will seek legal recourse. He asserts informing CRPF headquarters and solemnizing the marriage after receiving approval, necessitated by ...

"Only after getting permission from the CRPF headquarters, our families decided to go ahead with the marriage online without waiting for the visa formalities as the condition of my father, a cancer patient, had deteriorated. His treatment was borne by CRPF," said Munir, who also showed documents to the media at a press conference.
Munir's personal life hit the limelight following the Pahalgam attack, when all Pakistani nationals were asked to leave the country. Khan arrived in J&K on February 28 this year on a short-term visa and they applied for a long-term visa (LTV). They had submitted documents and completed all formalities for LTV. However, following the Pahalgam attack, after the deportation order, Munir moved the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, which provided relief and stayed his wife's deportation at the last moment on April 30.
"My wife is the daughter of my maternal uncle, who migrated from Jammu to Pakistan during partition in 1947. We didn't meet through social media or fall in love online. This is fabricated," said Munir, who joined CRPF in 2017. He has appealed to the PM , home minister Amit Shah and CRPF to take a relook at his case. Munir claims he made the first correspondence with his seniors regarding his plans to marry a Pak national on December 31, 2022.
