Dimasa National Liberation Army declares unilateral ceasefire for six months

The outfit in a statement announced it as a “goodwill gesture'' and as a positive response to the call of peace by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

On August 27, Suspected militants belonging to DNLA killed five persons and injured one in Assam’s Dima Hasao.
Militant outfit Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA), has declared unilateral ceasefire for six months following peace overtures of the Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The outfit in a statement announced it as a “goodwill gesture'' and as a positive response to the call of peace by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. We the DNLA is hereby declaring “unilateral ceasefire” on 7th September 2021 for six months for creating an atmosphere for peace talks with the Government of Assam and Government of India. We the DNLAhope that the Government of Assam and Government of India will reciprocate action for meaningful discussion.``

On August 27, Suspected militants belonging to DNLA killed five persons and injured one in Assam’s Dima Hasao.


In May this year security forces gunned down eight militants belonging to DNLA. The group has its presence in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts of Assam and has recently killed a couple of persons.
