Triumph for Delhi Police and CRPF
In a notable achievement, the Delhi Police secured the coveted 'Best Marching Contingent' trophy in the 'Judges Choice category,' while the CRPF claimed the top spot in the 'Popular Choice category.' Expressing her delight, Suman Nalwa, the Delhi Police PRO and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), took to her social media account to share the news. "A moment of immense pride — Delhi Police marching contingent in Republic Day parade has been declared the 'Best Marching Contingent' among the CAPF and other auxiliary forces in Judges Choice category," she announced.
Recognition and Ceremony
The awards, presented by MoS Defence Ajay Bhatt, were conferred upon the best marching contingents and tableaux for the Republic Day Parade on January 30, 2024. The results were announced separately, with one set determined by a panel of judges and the other through an online public vote conducted by MyGov. Bhatt congratulated all the winners and highlighted the significance of their contributions to the parade.
To ensure a fair evaluation, three panels of judges were appointed to assess the performance of Marching Contingents from the three Services, Marching Contingents from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF)/other auxiliary forces, and tableaux from various States/Union Territories and Ministries/Departments. The Delhi Police's all-women contingents, featuring an all-women pipe band, made history by participating in the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path on January 26.
Women Power on Display
The Delhi Police contingents showcased a diverse representation, comprising one female gazetted officer, three women sub-inspectors, 44 women head-constables, and 100 women constables. The Delhi Police Brass and Pipe Band featured four women sub-inspectors and 81 women constables who played the "Delhi Police Song" during the parade.
