CRPF man, naxalite killed in Sukma operations

An unconfirmed report said a CoBRA commando was also injured and evacuated by an IAF helicopter. CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) is the CRPF's elite jungle warfare unit deployed in Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas.

NEW DELHI: A CoBRA commando of the CRPF and a Naxalite were killed during an ongoing anti-Maoist operation in Tumrel village, Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, officials said on Thursday. The operation is led by the CRPF's 210th CoBRA battalion, supported by Chhattisgarh Police's DRG and STF.

An unconfirmed report said a CoBRA commando was also injured and evacuated by an IAF helicopter. CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) is the CRPF's elite jungle warfare unit deployed in Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas.

Later, security forces killed another Naxal during an encounter at the Sukma-Bijapur border. The clash, which began on May 22, left three jawans hospitalised.
