Construction of new Assam Rifles headquarter to be over by March 31 next year

AIZAWL: Construction work for the new headquarters of Assam Rifles near Aizawl is expected to be completed by March 31 next year, Mizoram home minister R Lalzirliana informed the state legislature today.

In a written reply to a query from Lalrinawma of the Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalzirliana said the construction was undertaken by the Engineering Projects (India) Limited, a government of India enterprise, under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

He said the physical achievement on the construction till date was 92 per cent.

The time of shifting the Assam Rifles from the heart of the capital Aizawl city was in the hands of the Ministry of Home Affairs, he said adding, the shifting was expected soon after completion of the construction work.
