Commodore Sunil Kumar Roy takes charge as Commanding Officer, INS Dronacharya

KOCHI: Commodore Sunil Kumar Roy has assumed charge as Commanding Officer (CO) of INS Dronacharya, the premier Gunnery Training Establishment of the Indian Navy, at Fort Kochi.

Commmodore Roy took charge on Monday, a defence release said.

The CO, INS Dronacharya, is also the Station Commander, Fort Kochi.


He succeeds Commodore Simon Mathai, who will be assuming the duties of Director, Maritime Warfare Centre (Kochi), it said.

Commmodore Roy was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1991.

He is a Gunnery specialist and was the first Commodore Safety of the newly constituted Indian Naval Safety Team, Kochi prior to taking over the present appointment.

The officer has commanded two frontline warships, Kulish (missile corvette) and Mumbai(missile destroyer).

He has also served in important staff billets at naval headquarters, the release added.
