The meeting between the two foreign ministers was their second in the last two months. The Chinese foreign minister visited India in March to attend a meeting of the G20 foreign ministers.
New Delhi: Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang has called for 'carrying forward the Shanghai spirit' following the 'resurgence of cold war'. Addressing the foreign ministers' meeting of SCO in Goa on Friday, Qin said that the world faced multiple crises today.

"The cold war is resurgent, unilateral protectionism is surging against the current and hegemonism and power politics are on the rise. As an important constructive force in international and regional affairs, SCO should firmly build a closer community with a shared future as the international situation becomes increasingly turbulent," Qin said.

He put forward five suggestions, including adherence to strategic independence and strengthening unity and mutual trust. China was willing to continuously expand cooperation with members, join hands on the road of national development and revitalise and work for building a community with a shared future, he said.

On his part, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov alleged the US was trying to interfere in Afghanistan again and there was solid evidence to confirm it. He expressed the hope that the SCO-Afghanistan group would be activated. The situation "really requires urgent measures," he said.

"Americans are trying to interfere in Afghanistan's affairs again. There is convincing evidence that the Americans support terrorist groups remaining in Afghanistan and opposed to the Taliban", which has been banned in Russia.
