Chinese military delegation visits Eastern Command

KOLKATA: Almost a year after the Doklam standoff, a high level military delegation from China visited the Eastern Command on Thursday. The ten member delegation was led by Lt Gen Liu Xiaowu, Deputy Commander of Western Theatre Command of PLA.

General Sunil Srivastava, Chief of Staff, Eastern Command met Lt Gen Liu Xiaowu. Before arriving at Kolkata, the team has visited New Delhi, Agra and Sukhna in North Bengal.

The Eastern command issued a statement about the visit. “The visit is a positive step towards enhancing the bilateral defence cooperation mechanism between the two countries which would help in maintaining peace and stability along the LAC.”


According to sources, Army Commander had an informal meeting with the visiting dignitary. However, respecting the protocol, the Chief of staff conducted all the official agenda of the visit.
