Bijapur: Naxalites on Monday blew up a vehicle carrying security personnel with an improvised explosive device in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.

Nine individuals, including eight policemen and one driver have reportedly been killed in the attack, Reuters reported.

The blast occurred on the Bedre-Kutru Road in Bijapur district.


Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker & former CM, Dr Raman Singh condemned the attacks, calling naxalites, 'cowards'.

"Whenever big operations happen against them, these Naxalites come down to cowardly attack...I express my condolences to the families of the jawans who lost their lives in this attack...The big step that Chhattisgarh govt and central govt are taking, will take this step forward further," said Singh.
