BSF to conduct audit for better food for jawans and prevent pilferage
NEW DELHI: Following the posting of videos by a Border Security Force ( BSF) jawan- deployed at the Line of Control- on Facebook alleging insufficient and bad food is provided to the jawans, the force said an audit of the prevalent system and chalking out shortcomings in it is being done.

These are some of the remedial measures which the BSF has announced, after one of its constables Tej Bahadur Yadav, posted with the 29th Battalion of the BSF, posted a series of four videos on his Facebook account. In the videos, he showed the poor quality of food being served as meals during the day, such as dal without the necessary ingredients, and also insufficient food items. In a video, he also alleged that senior officers are illegally selling essentials- meant for the troops- in the market.

The BSF on Wednesday stated that it has taken a holistic view of the situation and the follow up process has been swung into action.

Other measures are suggesting procedural and systematic improvements and strengthening the vigilance set up for double checks. An important measure being taken is enhancing formal and informal communication with the jawans.

Yesterday, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said the Centre has deployed dieticians to all BSF border outposts.
