Almost two weeks after Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw inadvertently crossed the International Border along the Ferozepur district in Punjab, his wife and family are now pinning hopes of his return as a Pakistani Ranger was detained by the BSF from along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan on Saturday and the family from West Bengal hopes that an exchange of the two may likely happen.

Shaw's wife Rajni Shaw said, "It has already been 12 days and we have been waiting for information about my husband. Yesterday, we learnt about a Pakistani ranger getting arrested in Rajasthan. We are now hopeful that there may be an exchange now. Pakistan was not coming to the flag meetings, we were informed. But now we have received a call from BSF in Pathankot and we will get some good news soon."

Shaw's wife said she has been assured by the BSF that measures are being taken to ensure her husband's return from Pakistan.

BSF Constable Purnam Kumar Shaw's family in Bengal's Rishra has been spending days in worry, after the jawan had inadvertently crossed the International Border near Punjab's Ferozepur district on April 23. The detention of Shaw has coincided with the stand-off between India and Pakistan in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed.
