The development comes amid heightened security tensions across Jammu and Kashmir following increased cross-border hostilities.

Sirens were heard across various parts of Jammu, Punjab and Rajasthan on Thursday evening and Pakistan reportedly targeted Jammu airport using loitering munitions, prompting Indian Air Defence units to respond.

In an official update, the Army confirmed that military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu & Kashmir were targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. There have been no losses and the threat has been neutralised by Indian Armed Forces as per SoP with kinetic & non-kinetic means.
According to defence sources, India's Air Defence Units intercepted eight missiles from Pakistan directed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, Arnia.
Security forces have been placed on high alert along all sensitive zones of the International Border and Line of Control.
On Thursdsay, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, addressing the Ministry of External Affairs' press briefing, confirmed that India's Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems successfully countered the attacks on wee hours of Thursday.
During the night of May 7-8, as per the government, Pakistan had attempted to strike military targets across a wide range of locations--Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
