BSF foils bid to infiltrate Jammu region; intruder killed

BSF officials on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid and killed an unidentified intruder along the border in Pathankot area of Jammu.

BSF informed that in the pre-dawn hours, troops observed suspicious movement across the border at the outpost in Tashpatan area of Pathankot and an intruder was observed crossing the border. "The troops challenged the intruder but he did not pay heed and kept moving. Sensing the threat, our troops neutralised the intruder," the BSF officials said.

The officials said the identity and motive of the intruder is being ascertained. "Vigilant BSF troops thwarted the infiltration attempt. Strong protest will be lodged with Pak Rangers," the officials said.

Army vehicle attacked

Meanwhile, an Army vehicle came under fire from suspected militants in Sunderbani sector along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu. The officials said that no casualties were reported from the incident and have launched a massive search operation in the area to trace the attackers.

The incident took place near Phal village in the Sunderbani sector and officials suspect that the militants fired from the nearby forest area, which is also an old infiltration route. "Troops returned fire and reinforcements were rushed to neutralise the terrorists," officials informed.
