The Coastal Security Awareness Campaign was formally inaugurated this morning at Pallam. The Awareness Campaign was also undertaken at Vizhinjam.

KOCHI: A Coastal Security Awareness Campaign (CSACs) along the coastal villages of Thiruvananthapuram district was organised today by a team from Southern Naval Command, Navy said here.

The Campaign is aimed at bringing in awareness among fisherfolk about the threats from the sea and the way coastal populace can help in thwarting it and safety precautions to be taken by fishermen at sea, it said.

This being the last campaign phase of this calendar year, a total of 27 villages have been covered till date.

"Participation of fishermen in huge number is indicative of the enthusiasm and involvement amongst the coastal populace," Navy said in a release.

The Coastal Security Awareness Campaign was formally inaugurated this morning at Pallam. The Awareness Campaign was also undertaken at Vizhinjam.

Department of Fisheries, state police and Indian Coast Guard participated in the Campaign, Navy said.
