Union home minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to the state, had said that Naxalism will end by March 2026. Shah has also sought the creation of a Special Investigation Agency in the states for investigation and prosecution and has urged the state government to come up with a new surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy.
Earlier, the state police along with CRPF killed 15 Maoists in the months of August and September. In June this year, eight Maoists were killed in an encounter in the forests of Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district.
The DRG, Special Task Forces (STF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police's (ITBP) 53rd Battalion were involved in the operation. On May 23, seven Maoists were killed in an encounter with security personnel in a forest on Narayanpur-Bijapur inter-district border.
On May 10, around 12 Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district. Ten Maoists, including three women, were killed in an encounter with security personnel in a forest along the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts on April 30.
