Guwahati: An Assam Rifles personnel was injured in firing by suspected militants in Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang district, officials said on Friday.. The jawan was deployed as border fencing work is underway. The incident took place on Thursday evening.
Officials said the militants, suspected to be members of the NSCN-K-YA, resorted to unprovoked firing, reportedly opposing the ongoing border fencing work in the area.
Officials added that the incident took place around 5:30pm on Thursday near Pangsau Pass, when the militants allegedly opened fire from across the Myanmar side of the border. The militants subsequently fled the spot. A personnel sustained injuries in the exchange of fire and is at present out of danger, officials said.
